Britney dogged by reputation
It’s an up and down sort of day for Britney Spears. On the one hand, animal lovers apparently hate her. On the other, Mel Gibson has sympathy for her.
Is that up and down then? Or just down and down?
Britney has been voted the World’s Worst Celebrity Dog Owner for 2006. Animal lovers are up in arms that she neglected her pets when she and K-Fed tied the knot, and eventually gave them up to keep him happy.
Accordingly, the New York Dog and The Hollywood Dog magazines - how we wish we were making this up - gave the singer there less-than-coveted annual award.
Editor Hilary O’Hagan explained that Britney had three dogs called Lacy, Lucky and Bit-Bit. But K-Fed apparently took a dislike to Lucky and the dogs were given away.
Britney was the overwhelming choice. She once had three Chihuahuas and never left home without at least one of them.
As soon as she met K-Fed and had kids, they disappeared. It was either Mr Federline or Lucky. Unfortunately, Britney chose the wrong dog.
Still, at least Mel Gibson’s on Brit’s side.
‘I feel compassion for someone like Britney,’ reports FemaleFirst.com. ‘She never gets a moment. She’s, like, dogged all the time and followed and she’s trying to have a life.
‘Your heart goes out to her because I’m positive that, at her core, she’s a good woman.’
Whether she’s good or not remains to be seen. But recent underwear-free pics can confirm she is definitely a woman.
